Look - I'll never have glass skin, but even my facialist commented on my *glow*
As a beauty writer and owner of a less than perfect complexion, I've tried my fair share of skincare products, always on the lookout for that elusive holy grail routine. Full transparency: my skin is sensitive, prone to annoying blemishes, and I have a touch of rosacea to boot which makes finding the right products even more challenging. As we all search for that one product that will solve our skincare problems and give us glow like the girls we see online, we all know that chopping and changing products isn’t the best strategy. But when you try one thing and don’t get the results you were promised, what’s a girl to do? For ongoing woes, the real way to get to grips with what’s going on is to seek out the help of a professional. However, getting an appointment with a Dermatologist can prove difficult and very expensive. So when I’d seen some of the my favourite online personalities raving about Skin + Me and their skincare subscription service, with personalised formulations designed by a team of dermatology experts, I was intrigued but skeptical. Could Skin + Me really manage what I’ve failed to and really make a difference, just by going off a few photos? Spoiler alert: yes.

How it works
Let me break down how it works. Skin + Me’s process begins with an online consultation where you upload images of your skin and provide detailed information about your skin type, medical history, and skincare goals. Their dermatology experts then review your consultation and create a bespoke treatment plan just for you.
Getting my personalised routine
After submitting my consultation (and resubmitting due to my feeble front facing camera), Skin + Me's expert, Hannah, confirmed my mild acne and recommended a Daily Doser to help clear it up and reduce the redness in my cheeks. She explained that my formula would evolve each month as my skin builds tolerance to active ingredients, gently increasing the percentages to ensure continuous improvement without reactivity. And, that if it felt like it was moving too fast for my skin, I can get in touch with her to reevaluate and tweak the formula at any time.
When my first Doser arrived, I was impressed by the personalised touch – my name was right there on the sleek, minimalist packaging. The formula inside was tailored specifically to my skin's needs, containing gold-standard ingredients known for their efficacy that I hadn’t used before. The idea of having something designed just for my skin, with the backing of dermatological expertise, felt pretty exciting I won’t lie. In fact, my friend who is also using the brand to target her spots had a totally different formula.
Using the Daily Doser was straightforward and seamlessly integrated into my evening routine. Give it a little twist and it dispenses the exact amount you need. The first month was all about calming my skin and addressing those pesky blemishes.
Skin + Me doesn't just stop at the Daily Doser either. They offer daily staples including cleansers, moisturisers, sunscreens, and now even serums, all designed to support your skin barrier and maximise the results of your personalised treatment. To give myself the best chance of success, I ditched everything else in my current routine except for my hydrating hyaluronic serum and SPF, and switched to the free travel size cleanser and moisturiser routine. Just like your Doser, these can be added to your subscription so you never run out half way through the month.
After 1 month, my persistent pimples had been massively reduced and I looked a little glowier overall
The results
By the end of the month, I noticed some of my most stubborn blemishes were gone and anything new was, at the very least, less aggressive. But the real moment of truth came during my monthly facial. My facialist, who knows my skin well, commented on my newfound glow before we’d even sat down. She was genuinely impressed – and so was I. The result of the Azelaic acid perhaps? Whatever it was, my skin was into it. There's still plenty of work to do but the improvement on my fairly dull skin was evident.
