Whether you're packing a suitcase or simply unpacking your garden furniture, here's 5 chic summer looks from Marks and Spencer to wear now the good weather has arrived.
Sunshine days may have been few and far between this summer, but no matter - because holiday season has officially begun. I for one cannot wait to pop on my appropriately humorous ‘OOO’ and hop on a plane (hopefully minus the delays we’ve seen in recent weeks). However the recent UK cloud cover has left me on the back foot when it comes to my summer styling (full transparency, I've been living in t-shirts and jeans) so, in anticipation of my sun-packed schedule, I've starting thinking long and hard about the outfits I want to take with me.
If you're like me, you'll like to schedule in plenty of time lounging around the pool, catching the rays (slathered in SPF, of course), or splashing around in the sea before heading out for lunch. Equally, I love to explore wherever I'm staying on foot, preferably squeezing in a bit of shopping too. Then, of course, there are the evenings spent drinking, dining and dancing, each giving me a fresh excuse for a fancy new look. And whenever I'm in the market for covering all sartorial bases, I know where to head first - Marks & Spencer.
While known for their high-quality, long-lasting, and timeless pieces all year round, it's the M&S holiday shop that gets me most excited. It's full of chic, versatile staples that I know will create an elegant and easy week-away wardrobe - and I've already pulled together at least 5 looks that will cater to every holiday occasion. Think high glam bikini-based outfits for the pool, versus more flexible swimwear styles that can be paired with shorts at the beach. Fancy restaurants require a statement dress, while traipsing around city streets demands breezy separates and sensible shoes. The point is Marks & Spencer does it all - and does it very well. Just scroll down and see.
Outfit #1: The Bikini-Based Poolside Look
The perfect outfit for looking glamorous in the heat, this scalloped black bikini from M&S is a staple part of any poolside uniform. Add a floppy straw hat, a bold pareo for a pop of colour, and some gold *waterproof* earrings - and of course, a pina colada. Excuse me, waiter?
Outfit #2: The Multi-Tasking Beach Look
Heading to the beach requires a slightly more modest look because of the short (but stylish) journey to get there, grab a spot and then head to the beach bar for drinks – and that’s why this versatile look ticks all of the right boxes. Make a statement with the leopard print bathing suit when taking a dip, while still looking effortlessly cool when you chuck on some denim cutoffs and a floaty shirt so you can grab a mojito and head back to your lounger to catch some more rays.
Outfit #3: The City Explorer Look
Heading out for a day of exploring? Well, you’re going to want to feel cool, comfortable and put together, and that’s why a simple, wafty dress is the answer to the brief. This gorgeous brown dress from M&S is the perfect ‘everyday’ frock to throw on and head out exploring or shopping (because let’s face it, exploring is just code for wandering markets and buying trinkets… right?) - but the one shoulder keeps it elegant enough should you need to stop somewhere nice for lunch. Keep it simple with some sandals and sunnies, and then add a statement straw bag for the ultimate chic accent.
Outfit #4: The Al Fresco Dinner Look
Romantic meals by the ocean are one of life’s simple pleasures while abroad (or in the UK), and that’s why dressing the part is so important. A blue-hued look pairs perfectly with the sea to usher in a real summery feel, and this M&S maxi cami slip dress paired with some metallic sandals, a blue bag and statement silver accessories couldn't be cooler if it tried. Just don't forget to slather on the after sun to enhance that holiday glow - this Nuxe one is sensational.
Outfit #5: The Going Out Look
Going out-out? Hitting up the local marina? Or maybe meeting pals for cocktails at the best bar in town? Separately work especially well for moving wherever the balmy evening takes you. Monochrome covers all bases while hints of gold will work wonders with the tan you've picked up during the day.
