The high street giant has spoken – burgundy is autumn’s biggest colour trend
Sure, summer might belong to crisp white and bold brights, but I’ll be damned if anything can beat an autumn colour palette. As the temperatures dip, leaves begin to turn and the once scorched grass becomes vitalised from the rain. It’s impossible not to embrace the richness that surrounds us in nature at this time of year. Whether you lean more toward timeless neutrals like camel, brown or cream or find yourself drawn towards jewel-tone teals and rust, the high street is alive with autumn’s signature luxurious shades right now. But if my latest scroll though Zara’s new arrivals is anything to go by, there’s one colour set to the rule them all: burgundy.
No matter the season, you can always rely on good ol’ Zara to decode the runway’s big hitters and burgundy by and far has the most dominant presence across its latest collection. This rich, wine-inspired hue has been rolled across every autumn staple imaginable, from statement coats to tactile knitwear and leather. And best of all? It all looks way more expensive that its price tag.
Whether you opt for the truer red tones or dip into more purpley aubergine tones, it’s a colour that boasts oodles of depth particularly when couples with an interesting texture or two. Think leather trousers paired with a tailoring blazer; a slinky satin midi skirt with a woollen knit. As a head-to-know look, the luxury feel is next level. But it’s also a versatile colour that pairs beautifully with neutrals, grey, black and even brighter shocks of red and orange too. Got some leopard print lurking in your closet? Dig it out and pair alongside. Basically, there’s nothing it can’t do.
Scroll on to see just a few of the expensive-looking burgundy pieces from Zara looking for a place in your autumn wardrobe this season. Personally, I’ll be counting on the Patent Finish Loafers to jazz up my denim game, matching with a burgundy leather shoulder bag for an accessorising two-for-two. The longline leather jacket – almost parka-like in shape – is another no-brainer. But I’ll let you browse the full edit below to make your own mind up.
