Classic, elegant and so easy to pull together, white always wins for summer...
Every summer, without fail, I find myself gravitating towards the same classic hue: white. While trends may come and go, there's something so timeless and irresistibly chic about this timeless colour. After all, what would the warmer months be without a healthy dose of white in your wardrobe? Blame it on the blazing sun or perhaps the pristine whites of Wimbledon on the horizon; either way, white is the ultimate summer staple which is why you might be surprised to hear it 'trending' at all...
As if we'd have needed much convincing, the SS25 catwalks confirmed our devotion to this perennial favourite. But it wasn't just about the crisp, clean whites spotted at the likes of Stella McCartney or the pretty preppy styles at Ralph Lauren, but also those luxurious creamy tones that exude a certain elegance and sophistication. These hues scream richness, creating an effortlessly polished look. But why do we love these milky tones so much when the mercury rises? For starters, whites are undeniably crisp and clean, offering a refreshing contrast to the heat. White reflects sunlight, keeping you cooler while ensuring you look composed, and it works wonders at amplifying a tan. It also happens to act like a blank canvas, allowing for endless styling possibilities whether you're embracing a more minimalist aesthetic, or adding bold accessories for a pop of colour.

Moreover, white has a way of elevating any outfit. A simple white dress is a staple part of the fashion girl summer uniform, sure. For those daring enough to go head-to-toe in white - think linen waistcoat and trouser combos, or shirts tucked into shorts with a knit tied around the neck - the payoff is immense. This monochromatic approach not only looks expensive but also exudes confidence. Only a few can pull off the look for a whole day without grass stains or commuter grit dulling the shine.
It's a colour that never goes out of style, but there are a few ways you can do things differently this season - and I've curated my favourites below. Freshen up your hemlines by taxing them maxi, explore periphery tones of cream, ivory or ecru for a point of difference, or play with fabrics to bring texture and interest - it may be familiar, but you can still have fun too.
