Sad to say goodbye to summer? Don't be - autumn is looking bright thanks to Converse's vibrant refresh of some of its most iconic styles...
Colour is everywhere in my life, especially within my home and wardrobe. Honestly, you'll find a different one in every corner, covering every inch of space. From my bright pink velvet sofa, to the mustard 70s style wallpaper adorning my living room walls, and the bright red bag I love to use for work, to the emerald green coat I don when I fancy feeling a bit more opulent. Colour is a big player in my life - it's how express myself - and without it, I just wouldn’t be me.
But it’s not just a 'me' thing nor is it just a preference - in fact, there's a whole psychology behind it. Turns out, using colour as a means for expression can also impact positively on your mental health. In 2022, Modern Colour Theorist Momtaz Begum-Hossain shared, "There is more to colour than being an aesthetic. It's a powerful energy source that can impact our feelings, mood and emotions. We often talk about 'adding colour' when we feel that something is missing and colour provides the antidote, it can transform how we feel in an instant so in that respect colour does affect our mental state." I'm a massive advocate for dopamine dressing at the best of times but right now is the time to embrace it even more - and Converse seems to wholeheartedly agree.
Right now, with the changing of the seasons where we're faced with grey days ahead, colour is a clever tool to have in your arsenal not just to brighten up your look but your entire outlook on life as a whole. And luckily for all of us, Converse has just launched a brand new Limitless Colour campaign where they’re encouraging us to embrace the brights and express ourselves through their most saturated stylish sneakers.
Chances are you already own a Converse classic - a Classic Chuck Taylor 70s, perhaps? The iconic basketball shoe first appeared in 1917 (and was redesigned in 1922 for added support and flexibility)and is now a mainstay in stylish wardrobes everywhere, usually in the cult black and white. But there's a whole rainbow of exciting colourways on offer if you're brave enough. We're talking every colour imaginable, from bubblegum pink low rise sneakers, to high-top dogtooth Classic Chuck Taylor 70s – there really is a sneaker for everyone. And we say the bolder, the better - you might even be surprised at how versatile they can be. That camel coat you'll be wearing for the next 6 months? Bring on the burgundy pair for an instant boost. Find yourself stuck in a rut of black and grey? Dust off the cobwebs with a vibrant green hi-top or orange sneaker. You really don't need much to make an impact!
