I've finally cracked the code to cold weather dressing, thanks to Uniqlo
Let’s get one thing straight: I’m a summer person. Sun on my skin, a cocktail in hand, no cardigan required—that’s my vibe. Up until as recently as last year, I’d resigned myself to just gritting my teeth through autumn and winter, shivering in silence and accepting my fate that, for at least half the year, I would simply be a bit cold at all times. That was until I made two very important—and dare I say life-changing—purchases from Uniqlo which changing everything.
The first was my initiation into the world of Uniqlo’s iconic padded coats. The second? A HEATTECH long-sleeve tee, which I now wear under my knits like a secret weapon. These two items opened my eyes to the glorious fact that warmth is actually possible during the colder months, both in and out of the house, and it's actually pretty easy and affordable too.
If you’re like me and don’t relish the idea of dropping big money or risking an extortionate heating bill just to stay warm, Uniqlo is the secret weapon you need to know about. Uniqlo’s winter range is a no-nonsense treasure trove for the cold-averse, offering affordable, stylish essentials that just get it. Think super-soft merino and cashmere knitwear, the ultra-popular influencer-approved puffer jackets, and, of course, their crowning achievement: HEATTECH.
For the uninitiated, HEATTECH is Uniqlo’s iconic thermal range, a magical, moisture-wicking material that traps body heat to keep you warm. Whether it’s a layering tee or snug leggings, this stuff is engineered to make winter bearable. And Uniqlo doesn’t do one-size-fits-all on warmth; HEATTECH comes in three glorious tiers—standard HEATTECH (ideal as a base layer), Extra Warm (1.5x warmer), and Ultra Warm (perfect for arctic conditions) —so whether it’s mildly chilly or sub-zero outside, there’s a level designed to keep you toasty without adding bulk.
